What to See at Biodiversity Museum Day Feb. 10

This weekend, visitors to campus can pick up a spear, peer through binoculars or learn to preserve a plant.

Those are just some of the attractions on offer Saturday (Feb. 10) for the 13th annual free and family-friendly Biodiversity Museum Day, when 10 campus organizations open their doors to showcase various aspects of the natural world, big and small.

Biodiversity Museum Day and NeuroFest, both held virtually last year, are returning as in-person events the first two weekends in March.

Both programs will follow Campus Ready guidelines pertaining to vaccination status and the Daily Symptom Survey. Masks required. Follow the links in the At a Glance box to see the COVID-19 protocols for each event.

Only NeuroFest requires advance registration; the deadline is March 4.

More than a dozen collections and museums welcomed members of the public to UC Davis this weekend to showcase various aspects of the natural world.

Biodiversity Museum Day Showcases 13 Collections

This Saturday (Feb. 15), walk from ancient dinosaur bones to stick insects, from hawks to honey bees, and from California condor specimens to carnivorous plants. It鈥檚 all part of Biodiversity Museum Day, the annual event bringing together 13 museums and collections that throw open their doors to the public for free to give everyone 鈥� especially youngsters 鈥� a chance to see and touch UC Davis research.

UC Davis will hold its seventh annual Biodiversity Museum Day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, welcoming the public to see what the university collects and studies from the natural world. Parking and admission are free to this family friendly event.

BIODIVERSITY MUSEUM DAY: From Bones to Yeast and Everything in Between

The bones and bugs are back, and so are the flowers and fish. But this year鈥檚 UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day, Saturday (Feb. 13), will welcome even more diversity: nematodes and raptors, the arboretum and H盲agen-Dazs Honey Bee Haven 鈥� and even yeast!

In the event鈥檚 fifth year, the additions bring to 11 the number of research collections that the public is invited to see. The collections showcase natural history, biodiversity and the cultural-ecological interface.
